Sorokin, N.A. Prohorov, D.I. Pavlov ANNOTATION: The article deals with the issues associated with the conditioning of intermediate- and low-level spent ion exchange resins (IOS) by thermal vacuum drying method to obtain packages that would meet the acceptance criteria set for near-surface disposal. The paper describes an experimental installation and the industrial technology of OIOS dehumidification. For air conditioning of intermediate-level OIOS, it proposes the use of certified reinforced concrete containers. As it comes to the conditioning of low–level OIOS, it proposes plastic containers being similar in their designs to the metal ones. The paper also evaluates the compliance of OIOS packages with relevant safety requirements. Keywords: radioactive waste, spent ion exchange resins, drying, reinforced concrete container, disposal. DOWNLOAD (EN) » DOWNLOAD (RU) » Sorokin V. T., Prohorov N. A., Pavlov D. I.
