Pavlov, V.T. Sorokin, A.S. Barinov, A.V. Demin, D.V. Sychenko ANNOTATION: The article presents various design options for the development of near-surface radioactive waste disposal facilities and materials constituting to the engineered safety barriers. It considers the cost ratios associated with the establishment of engineered safety barrier systems. The paper presents some proposals regarding the decision-making on particular types and designs of near-surface radioactive waste disposal facilities aimed at increasing the safety and reducing the RW disposal costs.
