THE COMPLEX FOR COLLECTION, TRANSPORTATION, STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF SPENT RADIOACTIVE SOURCES

The technology for collection, transportation, storage and disposal of spent short-lived radioactive sources based on standard container for radwaste was developed and put into operation by specialists of FSUE “RADON”. The technology allows safety loading of up to 100 000 Ci Co-60 sources. The set of special equipment and accessories for sources loading, conditioning into metal matrix, periodical examination of sources conditions was developed within the container. The use of the container should solve the problem of spent radioactive sources management and meet the requirements of 190-FZ.
