Petrov, I.V. Gomenyuk, O.V. Kornyushkina, A.V. Matveenko, A.V. Rodin, D.M. Shkurygin, P.M. Shkurygin ANNOTATION: The paper considers fire and explosion hazards (FEH) inherent in the conditioning of spent ion exchange resins (SIER) referred to intermediate- and low-level waste categories based on the dehydration method. It evaluates the feasibility of its application and demonstrates the compliance of the dehydrated SIER with waste acceptance criteria for disposal. It considers the processes responsible for potentially fire-explosive gas generation evolving along with the dehydration of model radioactive waste (RW) solutions in the form of SIER with an account taken of their chemical composition in storage tanks at NPP. The paper also discusses the potential self-ignition of dehydrated SIER after the RW package is formed. Keywords: radioactive waste, spent ion exchange resins, ion exchange resin dehydration, fire hazard, self-ignition, disposal. DOWNLOAD (RU) » Petrov S. S., Gomenyuk I. V., Kornyushkina O.
