PECULIARITIES OF DECOMMISSIONING WASTE MANAGEMENT

The  paper  addresses  the  issues  of  management  of  radioactive wastes  generated  by  decommissioning  activities. Examples  of  technical  and  organizational  measures  for  waste  stream  optimization  are  presented.  It  is  stressed  that there is a need for more effective incentives to reduce radioactive waste volumes subject to disposal. Lack of acceptance criteria for bulky waste and relevant disposal options is revealed as a problem.
