Abashkin ANNOTATION: The paper overviews an experimental solidification unit the development of which has been completed, as well as commissioning and testing of the unit on model solutions which involved the production of a sample batch simulating the solidified short-lived high-level waste fraction. The designs of some individual unit structures have been modified based on its findings. The equipment has been calibrated, the process parameters have been specified, the unit has been recognized as ready for installation in a hot chamber of a radiochemical production facility to produce active samples based on the short-lived high-level waste fraction obtained from the raffinate of the first extraction cycle from spent nuclear fuel reprocessing.
